Engagement tours provide delegates with unique learning experiences through virtual site visits to local community-based organizations in Berlin. The goal is to exchange knowledge, best practices, successes, challenges and innovative solutions through an engaging virtual dialogue.
The tours will be hosted on the IAS 2021 platform and accessible to all conference delegates at no charge.
Fixpunkt works for the development and implementation of innovative ideas in health promotion, crime prevention, daily structure, employment and education for people who use illegal drugs in Berlin, offering non-judgemental support.
Fixpunkt works with people who use drugs, including migrants and refugees, through mobile needle exchange units and safe injection sites in the city. It offers health, harm reduction and social services free of prejudice and discrimination. Fixpunkt helps clients structure their days and provides counselling for securing employment and attaining professional qualifications.

The Fixpunkt tour will provide insights into the organization’s daily work on the street, at the safe injection site and in other counselling centres. Delegates will learn about the services Fixpunkt offers at the various sites, focusing on the perspective of community workers from West Africa, the Middle East, Bulgaria and Russian-speaking countries.
The tour will be produced in German with English subtitles.
About 16,500 of 90,700 people living with HIV in Germany live in its capital city, Berlin. The Berliner Aids-Hilfe e.V., founded in 1985, is based in Berlin-Schöneberg, the city’s famous gay district. About 40 employees and 200 volunteers provide a wide variety of services for people living with HIV based on the GIPA principles.
Its clients come from a variety of social backgrounds and they include LGBTIQ, people with a broad range of individual expressions, heterosexuals, people who use drugs, homeless people, ; sex workers and refugees. The organization provides counselling services for HIV, social or legal problems, isolation, ageing, gender and more.
The Senate of Berlin and private donations co-fund the Berliner Aids-Hilfe.

Delegates can learn about the range of services provided by Berliner Aids-Hilfe. Its employees and volunteers will take you around its offices, counselling rooms and community-led Café, Ulrichs. They will tell you about the organization’s goals and the way it works to meet the diverse needs of people living with HIV. They will also introduce you to BERLUN, a group of Russian-speaking people using drugs, who will give insights into the work and activities they coordinate.
The tour will be produced in German with English subtitles.
